The future of the automotive industry is CNC automotive technology.

With the development in numeric control technology, there has been rapid progress in the field of manufacturing processing and flexibility in manufacturing techniques.  Modern computer-integrated manufacturing techniques like CNC are capable of manufacturing highly complex geometric shapes efficiently and at a lower cost as compared to conventional manufacturing processes.

  1. 3D PRINTING

There’s no denying the fact that CNC machining and 3D printing are two completely different things.  While one is subtractive, the other is additive.  CNC machines cut away unwanted parts of a workpiece, 3D printing on the other hand, build CNC auto parts in 3D. Machine shops don’t need to choose just one of these as both can be combined.

More and more manufacturing companies have begun to realize that 3D printing is more efficient than injection moulding and are switching to hybrid manufacturing which combines CNC milling and turning with direct metal-laser sintering or other additive processes.

When accuracy is a concern, CNC machines can achieve tolerances upto 0,025m,m but the accuracy of a 3D printer is 0.01mm.  That is why, 3D printers are generally used for creating prototypes and then manufacturing products.

CNC machining is also a faster production option than a 3D printer.  That is why, some companies which manufacture CNC auto parts Mumbai may combine both the technologies to produce large production batches.

2. DIGITAL TWINS

People in many industrial sectors are making use of digital twins to gain insights into machine performance and processes.  Digital twins are a much more accurate representation of the objects than simulations.

One trend to watch out for in the future is using digital twins during the set-up stage to avoid production surpluses.

During production, an operator can input data about CNC machines into the system.  Once that is done, the program provides feed, speed, and tooling suggestions accordingly.  Using CNC machines to create digital twins is not common as of now but the above example shows what can be possible if CNC auto parts manufacturers use it.

3.ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Automation is another factor that can have a major impact on CNC automotive technology in the future.  As more and more manufacturers learn about the benefits of automation for CNC maching, positive results are likely to help the trend gain steam.

Studies have shown that using AI in CNC manufacturing can lead to a 51% improvement in accuracy as compared to non-AI options.  AI can also apply corrections during dynamic machining which besides saving time can ensure high quality.

In addition, AI could also help in predictive Maintenace.  Preventive maintenance focusses mostly on scheduled appointments to lower the chances of unexpected breakdowns, predictive maintenance aims on alerting operators of issues before they occur.
